Dark Sky and ENERTRAG Systemtechnik are continuing to expand their activities in the Dutch wind energy market. Following the signing of the contract for the supply and installation of Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems (ADLS) for wind farms in the province of Limburg, the first phase of the project has been successfully completed. Two wind farms have already been equipped with the systems, and further installations will follow in the coming weeks.
The project builds on the ADLS installations in the north of the Netherlands, which have already been successfully implemented. The systems activate the obstruction lighting of wind turbines only when an aircraft approaches. As a result, the lights remain switched off for the majority of the operating time. This reduces light emissions and at the same time contributes to compliance with flight safety requirements.
After completion of the installations, the approval process will be carried out by the Dutch supervisory authority Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport (ILT). Part of the procedure is test flights to prove reliable function under real operating conditions.
"With the successful project in Limburg, we are consistently continuing our international growth strategy. The Netherlands is a strategically important market for us. Together with our partners, we would like to equip more wind farms with intelligent ADLS technology and thus combine flight safety, acceptance of wind energy and sustainability," says Andreas Jurchen, Head of Sales for Dark Sky GmbH and ENERTRAG Systemtechnik GmbH.
With the current projects, Dark Sky and ENERTRAG Systemtechnik are strengthening their position in the Dutch market and responding to the increasing demand for demand-controlled obstacle lighting for wind turbines. While ENERTRAG Systemtechnik contributes its expertise in the development and production of the lighting systems, Dark Sky GmbH is responsible for the regulatory framework for the operation of demand-driven night marking (BNK/ADLS) – from approval and integration to operation and service.
