The Radisson Hotel Group has committed to the Manchester Airport site for the long term. The lease agreement with Union Investment for the hotel, which operates as the “Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester Airport”, has been extended until the end of 2035. The agreement includes an option for both parties to extend the term by a further ten years until 2045.
The property, which covers a total area of 24,712 m², was completed in 1998 and has been part of the portfolio of UniInstitutional European Real Estate – an open-ended public property fund managed by Union Investment for institutional investors – since 2004.
The “Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester Airport” has 352 rooms and eight exclusive suites. As the only hotel on the site, it is directly connected to the airport terminals, thereby guaranteeing its guests the utmost in convenience and comfort. Facilities include 170 outdoor car parking spaces, 27 customisable meeting spaces for up to 400 guests, and a restaurant overlooking the airport.
With passenger numbers set to exceed 32 million in 2025, Manchester is the third-largest airport in the UK. Passenger numbers are expected to rise to around 40 million by 2030. New long-haul routes, including those to South and East Asia, are expected to support this planned growth.
“Manchester Airport is also on the verge of completing a comprehensive transformation programme worth 1.3 billion British pounds, which includes the construction of a second terminal. With its unique micro-location and direct access to the passenger terminals, the Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester Airport is ideally positioned to continue to benefit from the site’s positive development. “We are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with the Radisson Hotel Group, a financially sound operator, here in Manchester as well,” says Thorsten Purkus, Head of Asset Management Hospitality at Union Investment.
“We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Union Investment through this contract extension,” says Jens Brandin, Cluster General Manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester Airport. “We look forward to continuing to welcome visitors and guests to our hotel and offering them the very best hospitality at this unique location.”
