Savings of around 6,000 tons of CO₂ per year
Deutsche Bürohaus GmbH, a subsidiary of the DVI Group, is now supplying its entire commercial real estate portfolio with 100 percent green electricity. Deutsche Bürohaus has commissioned the energy service provider Westbridge Advisory, an energy and sustainability consultant for real estate clients, to convert its energy supply. SWB Energie- und Wasser (Stadtwerke Bonn) was chosen as the new energy supply partner, which will supply the entire portfolio with electricity from renewable energies until at least 2029. With the switch to 100 percent green electricity, around 6,000 tons of CO₂ emissions will be saved annually in the entire real estate portfolio of Deutsche Bürohaus.
Deutsche Bürohaus’ commercial portfolio currently comprises more than 30 properties nationwide with a total of almost 400,000 square metres of usable space, including around 70 per cent office properties as well as two local shopping centres and three business parks. The annual electricity consumption of these properties is around five million kilowatt hours.
“By switching to 100 percent green electricity, we are making a measurable contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions and underlining our commitment to sustainable real estate management. At the same time, our existing properties and tenants benefit from predictable electricity costs and a significantly improved CO₂ balance. The combination of stable energy costs and climate-friendly supply makes the properties more attractive in the long term. We are looking forward to working with Westbridge Advisory and Stadtwerke Bonn,” says Dirk Wichner, Managing Director of Deutsche Bürohaus GmbH.
Rüdiger Salzmann, Managing Director at Westbridge Advisory, comments: “The conversion of an entire commercial portfolio to green electricity is a strong signal for sustainable action in the real estate industry. We are pleased to have accompanied Deutsche Bürohaus in this important step and to make a measurable contribution to CO₂ reduction together.”
The conversion of the power supply is part of the overarching sustainability strategy of the DVI Group and its subsidiaries. The aim is to further develop the real estate portfolio in such a way that the properties remain low-CO₂, resource-saving and future-proof in the long term. Another focus is on the expansion of photovoltaic systems in order to gradually make the properties even more climate-friendly.
