COMPLEMUS integrates photovoltaic solution into production and logistics project in Euskirchen and signs contract with Energy Partners

Investment developer COMPLEMUS Real Estate is adding a photovoltaic system with a capacity of around 1.8 megawatt peak (MWp) to its logistics and production project in Euskirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, for which it has signed a contract with the energy equipment company Energy Partners. The electricity generated will be delivered directly to the tenant MM Flowers as part of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The PV system is an integral part of the sustainable building concept. Among other things, this provides for green roofs, façade greening, heat pump technology and an e-charging infrastructure. In particular, the user’s cooling system, which requires the most electricity in summer, can thus be operated autonomously.

In the “Am Silberberg” industrial area, two logistics and production halls with a total area of 23,750 square meters will be built on a site of approximately 42,330 square meters by late summer 2026. Of the two halls, an approx. 13,000 square metre production and logistics area, including office space, is leased to the British florist MM Flowers. The second hall with around 10,000 square meters of rental space is currently being marketed. For this area, too, it is envisaged that around half of the electricity generated on site can be made available to the future tenant as part of a direct supply without grid charges.

Pero Matic, Managing Director of COMPLEMUS Real Estate GmbH, says: “For us, the photovoltaic system is an integral part of the overall concept in Euskirchen. We develop our projects in such a way that they are economically viable in the long term and at the same time make a measurable contribution to decarbonization. The direct supply of our tenant with electricity generated on site increases planning security and strengthens the sustainability quality of the site. We can well imagine implementing further joint projects in the future in order to realize additional CO₂ savings.”

Matthias Giller, Managing Director of Energy Partners, says: “It is becoming increasingly important for companies to be able to rely on a stable and predictable supply regardless of volatile energy markets. Projects like this show how regional energy production, economic efficiency and cooperative partnership can be interlinked. Long-term direct supply not only strengthens cost stability for our customers, but also creates additional resilience in the local energy system.”

The possibility of integrating a battery storage system at a later date is already being taken into account in the planning process in order to enable additional flexibility. The contractually agreed period of 25 years creates planning security for the parties involved. As the owner, COMPLEMUS will provide the completely green roof areas, MM Flowers will purchase the electricity generated on site as part of a direct delivery model, and Energy Partners will take over the development and operation of the photovoltaic system.
