Hines, a global real estate investor, developer and manager, has won the German Pension Insurance Hesse (DRV Hessen) for the Frankfurt shipyard. DRV will expand around 5,200 m² of office space in the building for its individual needs and move into it in the summer of next year. An information and advice centre, a testing district office and a modern training centre for the training of skilled workers will be built on four floors.
“With Deutsche Rentenversicherung Hessen, we have gained an attractive tenant who appreciates our coherent concept and knows how to use the high flexibility accordingly,” says Emanuel Coskun, Senior Managing Director at Hines. “In addition to Check24, the shipyard presents itself as a sought-after address for productive and modern work in a pleasant atmosphere on the banks of the Main.”
The shipyard combines representative architecture by KSP Engel with modern, light-flooded office space on a total of eleven floors. The generous window formats allow a direct view of the river side and create an innovative working environment.
After the acquisition in 2019, the Hines European Core Fund (HECF) has successively repositioned the shipyard in terms of sustainability.
The property was awarded the DGNB Gold Certificate for its sustainable management. Achieving net-zero carbon by 2030 is one of the ambitious ESG goals Hines is pursuing for the shipyard. In addition, smart building technologies, intelligent energy management and measures to promote biodiversity underline the holistic approach of the project.
Hines was advised on the leasing process by Cushman & Wakefield; Colliers acted as an advisor on the tenant side.
