As one of the first private-sector operators of parking properties, Goldbeck Parking Services GmbH – part of the service division of the construction and service company Goldbeck, which operates throughout Europe – is working with the North Rhine-Westphalian state agency for mobility data, NRW. Mobidrom GmbH. In this way, both partners make an important contribution to the digitization and networking of transport in Germany’s most populous state.
Mobility data for the MOBIDROM data platform
As part of the cooperation, Goldbeck Parking Services will provide MOBIDROM with comprehensive infrastructure and mobility data, which the parking expert obtains from the approximately 62 parking properties and e-charging stations it manages in North Rhine-Westphalia. This includes, among other things, location and operational information of the parking facilities, such as parking capacities, opening hours, tariffs, building data or geocoordinates. The data provision is fully compliant with data protection regulations; personal data is not collected.
By integrating the parking garage and parking area data into the central state system, the information is made usable for a variety of mobility applications. In this way, Goldbeck Parking Services and MOBIDROM enable the provision of relevant, networked traffic data and thus create a central basis for innovative mobility solutions in NRW.
Dr. Jochen Harding, Managing Director of NRW. Mobidrom GmbH: “We are very pleased that the parking garage and parking area data of Goldbeck Parking Services in North Rhine-Westphalia is now available via the MOBIDROM data platform. Goldbeck Parking Services will thus become a pioneer among private-sector operators.”
“Thanks to our fully digitized way of working and data-based processes, we provide relevant mobility data on an ongoing and up-to-date basis. The efficient recording, intelligent evaluation and seamless transfer of this property data are common practice for us. Thanks to a high level of technological flexibility, we can integrate new data sources at any time and expand existing systems,” explains Stephan Pieper, Managing Director of Goldbeck Parking Services GmbH. “Together with MOBIDROM, we are creating the infrastructural basis for networked, innovative mobility services and actively supporting cities and municipalities in the further development of their data-based transport planning. We are therefore very pleased about the cooperation and hope that other mobility providers will follow our example in the future,” emphasizes Stephan Pieper.
Driving the mobility turnaround through stronger networking
The cooperation with mobility service providers such as Goldbeck Parking Services significantly expands the municipal traffic database and makes traffic control in North Rhine-Westphalian cities, municipalities and municipalities much more efficient. Intelligent evaluation of this data, for example, directs traffic looking for parking spaces in a targeted manner and optimally controls the utilization of parking areas, which reduces unnecessary journeys and emissions.
“By making our data available on the MOBIDROM data platform and bundling it with other mobility data, a holistically integrated mobility system is created. This helps to reduce costs, time losses and emissions in the transport sector throughout the country. For us, mobility data is the key to driving innovative and networked mobility solutions,” explains Stephan Pieper. “Together with MOBIDROM, we are making an important contribution to making transport in North Rhine-Westphalia not only more user-friendly, but also more environmentally friendly – a decisive step on the way to the mobility turnaround in North Rhine-Westphalia,” he concludes.

The State Agency for Mobility Data plans to continuously develop its accompanying services such as the Verkehr.NRW transport portal and routing services. In combination with the mobility data, transparency for travelers is increased and tailor-made route recommendations are made possible. Particularly highly frequented locations can thus be relieved in a targeted manner and the volume of traffic can be sustainably reduced. With their cooperation, Goldbeck Parking Services is strengthening the mobility turnaround in the state.
