The investment developer COMPLEMUS Real Estate is developing logistics and production halls in Euskirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia) on a site of approximately 42,330 square metres. Last Friday, September 5, the groundbreaking ceremony took place with Mayor Sacha Reichelt as well as representatives of COMPLEMUS and the future tenant, MM Flowers Europe. Completion is scheduled for summer 2026.
UK-based MM Flowers Europe, which specialises in the packaging and distribution of flowers, plants and bulbs for major UK retailers, has signed a 15-year lease for around 13,000 square metres of production and logistics space. The contract includes an extension option for a further five years. MM Flowers will use the new location to expand its existing commitment in Germany and plans to employ between 330 and 600 people in Euskirchen. A tenant is currently still being sought for the other, still vacant, hall space.
Pero Matic, Managing Director of COMPLEMUS Real Estate GmbH, says: “We are proud to be able to support MM Flowers in their expansion in Germany. The advantage of concluding a lease agreement early before construction begins is that we can build the property according to the needs of the user and, unlike renting existing space, he does not have to make any compromises. Thanks to the dedicated help of the city of Euskirchen, the purchase of the land as well as the planning and approval times were extremely short.”
Euskirchen’s mayor Sacha Reichelt (CDU) adds: “This project development in the ‘Am Silberberg’ industrial estate proves the great interest in this location between the major cities of Cologne and Bonn. With the new construction of these sustainable production and logistics halls, we are reaching another milestone that will ultimately create up to 600 additional jobs.”
Phil Whelan, Managing Director of MM Flowers, comments: “Our establishment in Euskirchen supports our strategic goal of further expanding our expansion in the German market. The newly constructed halls meet our requirements in terms of space efficiency as well as our commitment to sustainable production and logistics.”
As with previous projects, COMPLEMUS is focusing on sustainability in the construction of the areas. For example, the halls will be provided with green roofs, and parts of the façade will be greened. Heat pumps are used to heat and cool the halls. In addition, a wide-ranging e-charging infrastructure is being created. The photovoltaic system is expected to achieve an output of around 1.8 megawatts peak. The building is seeking sustainability certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) in gold.
The district town of Euskirchen has around 60,000 inhabitants, is located in the Cologne-Bonn conurbation and is well connected to the regional centres and Cologne-Bonn Airport, an important hub for cargo flights, via the A1 and A61 motorways.
