As part of the district development Neckar.Au Rottenburg am Neckar, LAVA ENERGY, an expert in economical and climate-neutral energy solutions for real estate, has equipped the Neckar.Sustain and Neckar.Rooms construction sites with a photovoltaic system. The PV system is part of a comprehensive, integrated energy concept that LAVA ENERGY is implementing for the new quarter on behalf of the residential developer Instone Real Estate (“Instone”), which operates throughout Germany. A total of 227 apartments in ten apartment buildings with a total living space of around 17,700 m² and a small commercial space of approx. 125 m² are being built on the two construction sites.
The photovoltaic system has a total output of around 356 kilowatts and is planned, operated and maintained by LAVA ENERGY. It makes a central contribution to the renewable energy supply in the new urban district. In addition to the implementation of the solar system, LAVA ENERGY’s mandate also includes the integration of a tenant electricity model to supply tenants with locally generated solar power and the development of an infrastructure for e-mobility.
“The scheduled completion of the photovoltaic system is an important milestone on the way to a decentralized, district-based energy supply. Our goal is to develop residential districts economically towards climate neutrality – without additional effort for property developers or owners,” says Dr.-Ing. Roland Kopetzky, Technical Managing Director of LAVA ENERGY. “Instone’s trust in our expertise encourages us to continue to drive innovative energy concepts in the housing industry.”
In close coordination with the city of Rottenburg, Instone is responsible for the overall urban development of the quarter. The aim is to create a socially mixed district with diverse forms of housing. “Future-oriented and sustainable district development requires that the energy supply is considered at an early, holistic and integrated stage. With LAVA ENERGY, we have found a project partner who has accompanied us professionally and reliably on this path,” says Bianca Reinhardt Weith, Managing Director of Instone Real Estate Development GmbH.
The medium-sized town of Rottenburg is located in the district of Tübingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The Neckar.Au quarter is being built on an area close to the city centre and will be developed in sections with a total area of around 33,700 m². Completion of the quarter is scheduled for summer 2026.
