A building block for better mobility in rural areas: The joint StadtLandMobil project by e+k move and Digital Hub Mobility by UnternehmerTUM has been selected as the official IBA-M project candidate and will be put into practice in the coming months.
“The StadtLandMobil specifically addresses the problem of the often very limited mobility services in small towns or in the countryside. The project combines proven models from urban mobility services to create an innovative neighbourhood sharing concept,” emphasizes Maximilian Ritz, Senior Service Designer at UnternehmerTUM. The aim of this service is to create alternatives to owning a car in regions that have only limited availability of public transport.
The special feature of StadtLandMobil is the idea of shared fleets. Neighbourhoods, house communities and smaller settlements will be given the opportunity to share private vehicles with each other in a legally secure and insured manner. The existing family vehicles, everyday cars and vans will be transformed into a fleet that can be used by a clearly defined group of people. This minimizes the risk for the owners and strengthens not only mobility, but also the community.
StadtLandMobil provides digital booking systems, insurance solutions, fuel and charging cards as well as services such as maintenance and cleaning for users. Thanks to a specially developed locking system that can be quickly retrofitted, dividing is significantly simplified.
The sharing offer is supplemented by an on-demand shuttle in the same app. If no sharing vehicles are available or driving is out of the question, a shuttle can be used. The system bundles the journey requests and thus enables a high utilization of the shuttles with low operating costs. The shuttles can complement the public transport service, especially at off-peak times.
“StadtLandMobil shows how modern mobility can work in rural and suburban areas: ecologically responsible, socially anchored and digitally accessible. The scalable and transferable concept is intended to serve as a model for the Munich metropolitan region and beyond – as a real alternative to owning a car,” says Christoph Heilmeier, Managing Director of e+k move GmbH.
