Lüneburg: Goldbeck Parking Services successfully completes comprehensive revitalization of the Münzstraße multi-storey car park

Goldbeck Parking Services GmbH, a specialist in the management and revitalisation of parking properties, successfully completed the comprehensive revitalisation of the Münzstraße multi-storey car park in Lüneburg in August. The work was carried out during ongoing park operations and spanned a period of around one and a half years. The client is Quantum Immobilien AG, a Hamburg-based project developer and investment manager. Goldbeck Parking Services has already been operating the property since October 2023. Quantum is one of the long-standing customers of Goldbeck Parking Services.

Successful revitalisation secures central mobility offer in Lüneburg

The multi-storey car park, built in 1970, offers over 214 parking spaces on eleven levels – two of which are underground – and is one of the most frequently used parking facilities in the region thanks to its central location in Lüneburg’s city centre. “The Münzstraße multi-storey car park is in high demand and heavily frequented due to its central location in the city centre. The important infrastructure object is therefore an indispensable part of the urban mobility offer in the region. Over the years, however, the property showed significant damage to its substance, as well as signs of wear and tear. We are all the more pleased that we have sustainably improved the functionality, safety and quality of stay of the multi-storey car park with comprehensive revitalisation measures and brought it up to a modern standard,” explains Steffen Neuhorn, Head of Maintenance & Refit at Goldbeck Parking Services GmbH.

Revitalization during ongoing park operations

Before the start of the work, the multi-storey car park had a considerable maintenance backlog and a corresponding need for revitalisation. Especially in the lower levels, heavily corroded reinforcements made extensive renewal of the concrete substance necessary. As part of the measures, Goldbeck Parking Services also renewed the asphalt surface on all ramps and on four parking levels. Ceilings and walls were given a special coating that ensures permanent protection against moisture. In the future, new and optimised lane markings will ensure better orientation and increased traffic safety in the multi-storey car park.

The revitalisation was carried out in several phases, so that only individual sections were closed at a time. As a result, the car park remained usable for parking customers for the duration of the revitalisation. This approach made it possible to retain regular customers and avoid migration to competing parking garages.

In this way, loss of income for owners can be avoided and the profitability and attractiveness of the location can be secured in the long term with maximum comfort for parking customers,” says Marcel Bernau, Head of Operations at Goldbeck Parking Services GmbH.

The Münzstraße multi-storey car park is located in the centre of Lüneburg in the immediate vicinity of the Illmenau River. Well-known retailers are within walking distance. Lüneburg’s main train station is about a ten-minute walk away.
