HIH Invest has won a new tenant for the commercial building at Spitalgasse 12-14 in Coburg. The furnishing and decoration chain Butlers is moving into around 650 square metres of retail space on the ground floor and first floor at Spitalgasse 12-14. In addition, there is approx. 250 square meters of storage space in the basement. The branch has been open since mid-September.
The building ensemble at Spitalgasse 12-14/Herrngasse 3-5 with a total lettable area of around 7,200 square metres is located in the centre of the Upper Franconian city of Coburg. It can be divided into two types of construction: The building section at Spitalgasse 12-14 is a new building from the 1970s, while the building section at Herrngasse 3-5 dates from around 1900. In the period 2010/2011, the property was modernized. The property belongs to a special real estate fund managed by HIH Invest.
The anchor tenant in the building ensemble in the pedestrian zone is the retail chain TK Maxx, which opened a 2,400 square metre branch there in 2023.
Milan-Kristoffer Otte, Head of Asset Management Retail & Logistics at HIH Real Estate, says: “With Butlers, we have been able to win another well-known retailer for one of the best locations in Coburg’s city centre. The range of home accessories, decorative items and gift ideas appeals to a broad target group and complements the existing range. Butlers will not only become an attraction for customers, but will also provide new impetus for the attractiveness and frequency of the pedestrian zone.”
Bernd Salzman, Head of Expansion DACH at Butlers, says: “Coburg is another important building block in our network of more than 100 branches. With Spitalgasse 12-14, we have found the ideal retail space and are convinced that we will further strengthen our presence in southern Germany and reach new target groups with this location. We would like to thank the HIH Real Estate team for the good cooperation.”
