With the opening of the new NETTO store in Büchel, a modern, sustainably designed local supplier officially goes into operation. RATISBONA Handelsimmobilien, an experienced project developer specialising in the realisation of sustainable retail properties with ecological standards, was responsible for the development of the location.
The new ECO. Markt at Parkstraße 9 was built on a plot of around 5,140 m² and has a rental area of approx. 1,100 m². On a sales area of around 800 m², the store presents itself as a modern shopping facility with a comprehensive range of products for daily needs. Thanks to the visible wooden walls inside, the discounter creates a pleasant feeling of space that makes the sustainable construction method tangible even while shopping. A total of 60 parking spaces are available for customers, including four e-charging stations for electric vehicles.
RATISBONA Handelsimmobilien relies on a high-quality timber construction for the construction method, and the walls were equipped with recyclable cellulose insulation. The energy supply is provided by a photovoltaic system and an efficient heat pump – an interaction that covers the energy requirement in a resource-saving way. The outdoor facilities of the NETTO market were designed with special attention to biodiversity: around 410 m² of wildflower meadow and about 503 m² of structurally rich landscape lawn create valuable habitats for insects and birds. The green concept is complemented by the planting of native trees and over 170 shrub groups, which not only contribute to biodiversity, but also have a positive influence on the microclimate. Green seepage troughs are used for sustainable rainwater management, while specifically placed nesting aids offer wild bees a protected habitat.
“For us, sustainability does not only begin with ongoing operation, but already in planning and execution. Whether in the selection of materials, in every tree planted or in structural details such as cellulose insulation, it is our aim to create places that have a long-term effect, assume ecological responsibility and at the same time convince functionally,” says Severine Willekes, Construction Project Manager at RATISBONA Handelsimmobilien.
