As of 1 July 2026, INTREAL in Luxembourg has taken over the duties of Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) and central administrator for a Luxembourg infrastructure fund. As part of the realignment, the previously self-managed fund was transferred to a fully regulated fund structure that complies with the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD).
“With the acquisition of the fund, we are implementing an ambitious transformation process in the Luxembourg fund market. The combination of AIFM and central administration from a single source creates clear responsibilities and simplifies the regulatory management of complex fund structures. The fund invests in renewable energy infrastructure and holds a portfolio of seven existing plants with two solar parks in Italy and two solar and three wind farms in Germany. The fund is managed by INTREAL’s Luxembourg office. The takeover was implemented during ongoing operations and in close coordination with all partners involved.
“The market for infrastructure investments is developing dynamically. At the same time, the requirements for governance, transparency and compliance are increasing. Particularly in the case of existing funds, there is therefore a growing need to adapt existing structures to current regulatory standards. The fund underlines that renewable energies require not only operational asset expertise, but also fund administration that does justice to the long-term nature of these investments,” says Markus Schmidt, Head of Business Development Infrastructure at INTREAL.
