Hohental GmbH, a specialist in new construction and energy-efficient portfolio development of residential buildings, has completed a residential building in Stimbergstraße in Oer-Erkenschwick for Volksbank Waltrop. The new building comprises 4,306 square metres of gross floor area with 29 rental apartments, a commercial unit, eleven outdoor parking spaces for cars and 59 bicycle parking spaces. The two- to four-room apartments measure between 55 and 159 square meters of living space and each has a terrace or balcony. They are equipped with triple-glazed windows, underfloor heating, electric external blinds and floor-level showers.
“With the completion of the project, we will be able to provide the municipality of Oer-Erkenschwick with the urgently needed living space,” says Frank Illmann, Managing Partner at Hohental. “Modern apartments with a sustainable energy concept are in particularly high demand, because they offer a high level of living comfort and ensure moderate ancillary costs in the long term.”
Hohental accompanied the construction project in work phases 1 to 9. Construction began in August 2024. The building has a retention roof with a PV system and an air-to-water heat pump for a sustainable supply of energy. The façade is provided with a strap-plaster combination as well as powder-coated sheet metal and perforated sheet metal elements.
Oer-Erkenschwick is a municipality with around 31,500 inhabitants in the northern Ruhr area. It is characterized by its quiet residential area, proximity to the local recreation areas of the Haard and good connections to the Ruhr metropolitan region. In recent years, Oer-Erkenschwick has increasingly positioned itself as an attractive residential location for families and commuters. In recent years, the municipality has recorded a stable to slightly increasing population development. At the same time, only around 85 apartments were completed annually between 2020 and 2024.
