OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH has signed a contract with PBM GR. UP GmbH has gained another tenant for the BioSquare Leipzig technology campus. The engineering company, which specialises in pharmaceuticals and life sciences, is leasing around 1,500 square metres in Building B on a long-term basis. The space includes modern work areas, a large roof terrace and storage rooms. The handover is planned for May 2027.

PBM has already supported the planning of the sites of Augustinus Bader and, in some cases, of the biotechnology company c-LEcta in the first construction phase of the BioSquare. Now the company itself is moving its headquarters from the city centre to BioCity Leipzig, the site of the Alte Messe. In the future, PBM will work in the immediate vicinity of institutions such as the Max Planck Institute and the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI) as well as numerous other biotechnology and life science companies. This will bring PBM much closer to customers and partners from the industry for which the company is planning production, laboratory and cleanroom systems. The new areas on the upper floors of the BioSquare also offer a view over the BioCity Campus as well as Leipzig’s landmark, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, and Leipzig’s city centre.

Dr. Bernd Schade, Chairman of the Management Board of OFB Projektentwicklung, says: “We have been working with PBM for many years and share high standards of planning and implementation. The fact that the company is now opting for the BioSquare itself in the long term confirms the quality of the project and the strength of the location. In the middle of the BioCity, the PBM campus offers a suitable environment for further growth and close exchange within the life science industry.”

Thilo Mehlhase, CEO of PBM GR. UP GmbH, explains: “We can hardly imagine a more suitable location for our new headquarters. The BioSquare combines innovation, research and the future and thus fits perfectly with our claim to provide life science engineering at the highest level. Here we are creating space for further growth, new talent and even closer cooperation. We would like to thank the ÖFB for the trusting partnership.”

BioSquare Leipzig consists of two buildings. Component A, with a gross floor area of around 10,000 square meters, is fully leased to c-LEcta and serves as the headquarters of the biotechnology company. A total of around 7,500 square metres of rental space is available in component B. The areas can be divided from around 400 square metres and expanded according to the tenants’ requirements. The campus offers flexible office, laboratory and practice space with clear room heights of up to 3.75 metres. For the BioSquare, the ÖFB is striving for DGNB certification in gold and ensures conformity with the EU taxonomy.
