An important growth brand for the technical management of Deutsche WindGuard in Varel: In its 24/7 control center, it will monitor renewable energy plants with a total capacity of more than one gigawatt in Germany and the Netherlands for the first time. This development underlines the importance of professional technical operations management for the safe and efficient operation of wind energy, photovoltaic, hybrid and storage systems.
The operation of renewable energy assets is becoming increasingly complex: Operators today are faced with the challenge of ensuring cost-effective plant operation while meeting numerous regulatory, organizational and safety-related requirements. As a result, technical operations management is increasingly evolving from pure monitoring to a central interface for safe and economical plant operation.
“This is exactly where Deutsche WindGuard comes in: Our aim is to relieve operators in their day-to-day business in the best possible way. Through short response times, clear processes and well-founded technical decisions, we ensure high effective plant availability and optimal performance, thus creating a decisive basis for economical energy yields,” explains Nicolas Kluth, Head of Technical Management. “The linchpin is our 24/7 control center. As early as 2022, Deutsche WindGuard was one of the first providers of technical management for wind farms to prove to the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) that its 24/7 control center meets the requirements for operators of critical infrastructures (KRITIS) in accordance with Section 8a of the BSI Act. “Since then, we have been continuously developing our security standards through ongoing process optimization, regular audits and recurring evidence – in future in accordance with Section 39 of the BSI Act,” adds Tobias Künne, Head of Government, Compliance & Risk, “so that our customers can rely on secure, resilient and future-proof technical management in the long term.”
