Handtmann Group opens new location and takes over the former factory premises of Aquinos-Bedding Germany GmbH in Jöhstadt/Saxony
Exactly one year after the opening of insolvency proceedings over the assets of Aquinos Bedding Germany GmbH, in which lawyer Frauke Heier from the law firm Niering Stock Tömp Rechtsanwälte from Bochum/North Rhine-Westphalia was appointed as insolvency administrator, the Handtmann Group takes over the former factory premises of Aquinos-Bedding Germany GmbH in Jöhstadt/Saxony, with a size of over 23,650 m². The property comprises an extensive production and logistics area, which was originally built for the production of slatted bases (slatted frames) under the Schlaraffia brand and was continuously developed.
After the cessation of business operations at Aquinos Bedding Germany GmbH, the insolvency administrator Frauke Heier, in cooperation with Leo-Impact Consulting GmbH, led by Mr. Gunter von Leoprechting, and AENGEVELT Immobilien GmbH & Co. KG, succeeded in finding a successor company for the location in Jöhstadt. The insolvency administrator was supported in the implementation of the real estate transaction by the law firm ADVANT Beiten.
The Handtmann Group is an internationally active family business that has been in existence for over 150 years and is active in the business areas of light metal casting, system technology, plastics technology, processing and plant engineering with around 4,700 employees. The new owner of the property, Handtmann Leichtmetallgießerei Annaberg GmbH, based in the neighbouring town of Annaberg-Buchholz/Saxony, is a valued business partner and employer in the region. “In this way, we have not only achieved the best possible liquidation result for the creditors, but also realised our claim to find a suitable successor company for the business location in Jöhstadt to be filled,” says insolvency administrator Frauke Heier.
