The Buchner Haus in Passau’s city centre is filling with life: Today, the first new tenants are moving in with Rituals and Bär Schuhe. The international cosmetics company Rituals is moving into an area of around 300 square meters on the ground floor and basement of the historic building on Ludwigsplatz. The Swabian shoe manufacturer Bär Schuhe is renting an area of 75 square meters in total.
In the meantime, ehret+klein has signed another lease for commercial space on the ground floor: The varied tenant base will be supplemented by the Viennese company Holzkern, which will move into an area of 76 square meters. The manufacturer of sustainable watches, jewellery and accessories is expected to open its branch in October.
“With these three tenants, we are ensuring a high-quality tenant mix and an important impetus for the city centre of Passau. The lively interest in our rental space makes it clear that the Buchner Haus is convincing with its very good location,” says Simone Seidl, project manager at e+k Development GmbH. “I am pleased that Ludwigsplatz, as a central location in Passau, is now being revitalized by the new stores.”
The Buchner House, originally built in 1877, was in poor structural condition for a long time. Due to the defective building fabric, it was demolished and rebuilt according to the historical model. The construction project was part of the extensive urban redevelopment of Passau and illustrates ehret+klein’s approach to “urban repair”.
The new building with a gross floor area of around 4,900 square metres fits into the cityscape and at the same time contributes to the modernisation of the city centre. From the very beginning, the focus was on a close exchange with the urban society, which is reflected in the architecture and the integration into the urban environment.
On the ground floor of the Buchner Haus, a generously proportioned commercial space is still available for immediate rent. Negotiations are currently underway with well-known companies to complement the commercial offer in the Buchner Haus.
