Anchor tenant REWE is extending its lease until 2044 and expanding its space – at the same time, the move of FitX until 2041 marks the start of Aroundtown’s realignment of “Der Clou”.
The revitalization of the former shopping center into the local shopping center “Der Clou” has begun. Aroundtown is realigning “The Clou” to create a gathering place for the neighborhood and the community. REWE is expanding its space and has committed itself to forming a significant part of “Der Clou” by 2044. With FitX, the range of services will be expanded in the long term for 15 years.
With the expansion of the REWE store to around 2,400 m², Aroundtown has been able to achieve an important milestone for “Der Clou”. The lease of the long-standing anchor tenant REWE will be extended until 2044. The handover of the expansion area is scheduled for summer 2027. Subsequently, the expansion and modernisation of the entire REWE store will begin.
With FitX, the service concept will be expanded to include a range of sports: fitness enthusiasts will soon be able to work out on sports on around 2,300 m². The lease was concluded for 15 years, so FitX is expanding its offer in Berlin with another studio in the long term. FitX already operates 13 studios in Berlin; soon also in the Schillerpark-Center in Wedding, which is also part of Aroundtown’s portfolio. The new location on Kurt-Schumacher-Damm is to be handed over to FitX in 2026.

The location offers great potential to create an ideal training environment together with Aroundtown. So there will soon be Fitness FOR ALL OF US in ‘Der Clou’: Whether in our course world, in the free weights area or on the fitness area – with a total of seven versatile FitX training areas, nothing is left to be desired.”
“Der Clou” at Kurt-Schumacher-Damm 1–15 is an established local shopping centre and a central meeting point at the Kurt-Schumacher-Platz transport hub in Berlin-Reinickendorf. Thanks to direct access to subway line 6, numerous bus lines and an adjoining multi-storey car park with around 500 parking spaces, the centre is easily accessible by public transport as well as by car. The new Schumacher Quarter on the site of the former Tegel Airport is to create more than 5,000 apartments for more than 10,000 people in the immediate vicinity. In addition to the Schumacher Quartier, a new research and industrial park is being built on 3.4 hectares with the “Urban Tech Republic”, which will make the location even more lively and attractive.
