Insights provide key input for strategic investment decisions and a more resilient real estate portfolio
Aroundtown is collaborating with Climate X to analyze climate-related challenges across its real estate portfolio. As part of the collaboration, the innovative start-up Climate X is adapting its modelling methodologies to Aroundtown’s specific portfolio characteristics. The collaboration enables Aroundtown to assess the potential impacts of climate change in significantly greater detail, both at individual asset level and across the wider portfolio.
Climate X is an intelligence platform specializing in climate risk analysis. The company develops data-driven solutions to assess physical climate risks and their potential impacts on organizations’ locations, assets and business operations.
The collaboration provides deeper insights into different climate and emissions scenarios based on Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs). The scenario analyses enable a robust assessment of actual climate-related impacts and how they may develop under different climate change scenarios. This allows potential impacts to be identified and prioritized at an early stage. The resulting insights provide important input for strategic investment and sustainability decisions.
“Great to have Climate X, an innovative start-up with strong expertise in data-driven physical climate risk analysis, as our partner. This partnership strengthens our strategic approach to de-risking the portfolio by identifying climate-related vulnerabilities early, enabling targeted action and building greater resilience across our assets,” says Limor Bermann, Chief Sustainability Officer at Aroundtown.
“Working with Aroundtown marks a fundamental shift in how asset managers assess the impacts of climate change: no longer as a standalone analysis, but as an integral part of strategic real estate and investment decision-making. Developing a bespoke Climate X report for use as part of a BREEAM certification process was a first for us. The report demonstrates how tailored climate intelligence can be applied in a real estate context – both to support existing reporting requirements and to assess potential new property investments in Germany and across Europe,” says Lukky Ahmed, CEO and Co-founder of Climate X.
Aroundtown is one of the largest real estate companies in Europe and has a diversified portfolio that includes numerous hotel properties alongside office and residential assets.
