Lina Scherer to take over office on 1 April 2027 / Baumann will take over the role of Chair-Elect until then
Peter Baumann will be the new President of the Central Europe Chapter of CoreNet Global (CNG). The members have elected the internationally experienced real estate expert by a large majority to succeed the incumbent President Lina Scherer . The handover of office will take place on April 1, 2027. Until then, Peter Baumann will be closely involved in the work of the Board and the activities of the Chapter as Chair-Elect.
"I am very pleased that we have been able to recruit Peter Baumann for the presidency who combines many years of international experience with a clear strategic view of the future of corporate real estate," said Scherer. "Our industry is changing fundamentally. The demands on working environments, real estate portfolios and the role of corporate real estate in companies are evolving rapidly. It is therefore crucial for CoreNet Global to actively accompany this transformation, share knowledge and network our members even more closely with each other. I am convinced that Peter will provide important impetus for this."
Baumann has more than 24 years of experience in corporate real estate management. He is currently Global Head of Strategy & Planning in the Global Real Estate & Facilities division at SAP. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Global Real Estate & Facilities and Global Head of Workplace & Project Management. In addition, he led the German regional organization on an interim basis.
He has been involved with CoreNet Global since 2021. Particularly important to him is the open professional exchange, learning from each other and the opportunity to bring together the diverse expertise within the network and make it visible.
"The election is a great honor for me, and I am very grateful for the trust placed in me. The strength of our chapter lies in its network: in the members, the outstanding professionals and their willingness to share knowledge, experience and new perspectives with each other," says Baumann. "Our industry is facing tasks that no one can solve alone: the responsible use of artificial intelligence, the decarbonization and adaptation of real estate portfolios to climate change, the strengthening of their resilience in an increasingly uncertain economic and geopolitical environment, and the further development of working environments and data-based real estate decisions. Equally crucial is the question of how we attract, develop and network the talents and executives for the corporate real estate of the future.
CoreNet Global offers an exceptional platform to openly share experiences, learn from each other and jointly develop practical solutions. I look forward to listening, bringing people together and helping to make an even greater impact on the great expertise of our members."
Continuity through transition phase as chair-elect
Baumann will serve as chair-elect until he officially takes office on April 1, 2027. The transition phase is intended to enable him to get to know the work of the board, the members and the different activities and formats of the chapter in depth. At the same time, this will ensure a seamless transition between the current and future presidency.
