Siemens AG remains true to its long-standing location in Hamburg and extends the lease at Lindenplatz 2 ahead of schedule. In the course of this, the property, which is a listed building, will be modernised in accordance with ESG standards.
Siemens AG has had a branch in Hamburg at Lindenplatz 2 since 1957. Now Quantum and the DAX group have agreed on a long-term lease extension ahead of schedule. There are also plans for an extensive renovation of the listed property, which is carried out under sustainability aspects.
"We are pleased to continue our history in Hamburg at Lindenplatz 2 and to do so in soon even more modern offices, precisely tailored to our requirements. Siemens AG has committed to operating the properties it uses in a completely climate-neutral manner by 2030. In order to achieve this goal in our listed building on Lindenplatz in the future, we were able to agree with the owner and landlord on extensive modernization measures. Of course, state-of-the-art building technology from the portfolio of our Smart Infrastructure business line will be used. The decision to keep our branch at Lindenplatz is also a clear commitment to Hamburg as a business location," says Sonja Neubert, Head of Operations and spokesperson for the Siemens Hamburg branch.
The property, which is centrally located at Berliner Tor, was built in 1955, occupied by Siemens AG in 1957 and extensively renovated between 2004 and 2006. Quantum acquired the office property in 2018 for a fund of VGH Versicherungen. The current project planning envisages an extensive modernisation of the office space in the New Work design for the future around 700 employees at the branch location. A renewal and insulation of the façade in accordance with monument protection regulations is also planned. In addition, the attractiveness and quality of stay of the property will be increased by the redesign of the inner courtyard and the main entrance area. The multi-storey car park will also be greened and an e-charging structure will be installed.
"The space will be prepared in accordance with the tenant's current requirements and future ESG requirements. Reducing CO2 emissions from buildings to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement is an important goal of Quantum. Project planning has already begun and we plan to complete the extensive measures in 2027. Siemens AG will remain at the site during the entire construction phase, which will take place in sections," says Arndt Buchwald, Managing Director of Quantum.
"We are also pleased to have extended the lease ahead of schedule and to decide on the future of the property together with the tenant. Securing long-term rental income in conjunction with sustainability is a very good signal and strong commitment to the implementation of our investment strategy," adds Hanno Wolfensberger, Head of Real Estate and Investments at VGH Versicherungen.
Quantum was advised by the law firm WALCH RITTBERG NAGEL Rechtsanwälte und Steuerberater Partnerschaft mbB. BNP Paribas Real Estate GmbH was active on the Siemens AG side.
