The Nuremberg-based asset and investment manager GRR GARBE Retail Real Estate GmbH (GRR GARBE Retail) and the Norwegian energy company Eviny Elektrifisering AS, based in Hamburg, are pooling their expertise: The aim of the partnership is to build a nationwide network of ultra-fast charging parks at retail locations throughout Germany.
With the opening of the fast-charging park in the industrial park on Schrozberger Straße in Blaufelden (Schwäbisch Hall district), the first joint location has now been successfully put into operation. The charging park comprises a total of four high-power charging points, each with an output of up to 400 kW, which are available around the clock. Two of the charging points are barrier-free. Users can charge their vehicles with 100 percent green electricity and pay flexibly by app or credit card. The project was funded as part of the Deutschlandnetz initiative of the Federal Ministry of Transport.
The partnership between Eviny and GRR GARBE Retail is designed for the long term: Numerous other high-performance charging points are already being planned or implemented – both in urban centres such as Wiesbaden, Braunschweig or Ingolstadt and specifically in rural regions such as the Bavarian Forest, north-eastern Baden-Württemberg, Upper Franconia or the Weser Uplands. The aim is to build a nationwide network of ultra-fast charging infrastructure and thus further advance electromobility throughout Germany.
“With the new fast-charging park, we are creating an efficient infrastructure that will make electromobility suitable for everyday use in rural areas as well,” said Pål Tveitevåg, CEO of Eviny Elektrifisering AS Europa. “Blaufelden is an important first joint location with GRR GARBE Retail – further projects will follow.”
Important locational advantage for retail
GRR GARBE Retail also sees the project as an important step towards the further development of its retail locations: “The integration of modern charging infrastructure increases the attractiveness of our stores and retail parks in the long term. Customers can make optimal use of the charging time for their purchases. Our tenants also benefit from higher footfall and longer dwell times,” explained Andreas Dittmar, authorised signatory and Head of Business Development at GRR GARBE Retail.
In the presence of numerous guests from politics, business and society, including Blaufelden’s mayor Michael Dieterich, the new charging infrastructure was officially opened last Thursday. A symbolic ribbon cutting formed the framework of the event in addition to short speeches by the project partners.
The new location in Blaufelden offers one of the most powerful charging options in the region and thus marks an important step towards sustainable and future-proof mobility. With the successful start of the cooperation, GRR GARBE Retail and Eviny are sending a clear signal for the accelerated expansion of the charging infrastructure in Germany – both in urban centres and in rural areas.
