Increased demand for solar energy in its portfolio: Goldbeck Facility Services retrofits three properties with PV systems

Photovoltaikanlage auf Logistikzentrum von Bolton (PV-Anlage auf Logistikzentrum)

Goldbeck Facility Services, part of the construction and services company Goldbeck, which operates throughout Europe, is sending a strong signal for a sustainable energy supply. As part of three new contracts, they are installing photovoltaic systems on the existing properties. Most recently, in June 2025, the order was placed for the retrofitting of PV modules at Bolton Adhesives’ logistics center with the UHU brand.

The retrofitting of PV systems on existing buildings underlines the growing trend towards making real estate future-proof and energy-efficient. With this step, the clients not only make an active contribution to climate protection, but also benefit from independence from electricity price fluctuations. In addition, photovoltaics helps to meet the requirements of the EU taxonomy and ESG scoring.

PV projects in Borgholzhausen and Plauen

In Borgholzhausen near Bielefeld, Goldbeck had built a two-storey commercial hall in 2018. In June 2025, Goldbeck Facility Services was commissioned to install a PV system with an output of 99 kWp and an electricity storage system with a capacity of 90 kWh on the roof of the building, which covers around 2,000 square metres. Other properties are currently being examined in order to be able to develop a suitable photovoltaic concept.

Goldbeck Facility Services is also setting up a 99 kWp photovoltaic system in the multi-storey car park of the district office in Plauen. The retrofitting of this system was commissioned in April 2025 by the district office of the Vogtland district. The energy generated in this way will primarily benefit the district office’s charging infrastructure, which includes a fleet of company cars with some electric cars.

Pilot project: Lightweight PV modules for bonding

A first for Goldbeck Facility Services is the use of adhesive modules, fittingly on behalf of Bolton Adhesives/UHU, which is based in the greater Rastatt area. There is a logistics center on the site, the roof of which is not structurally sufficient for common PV installations. The photovoltaic experts at Goldbeck Facility Services are now installing lightweight modules that are glued to PVC square profiles. The 10,000 square metre hall roof can thus be completely covered. With 1,366 installed PV modules, 710 kWp will be realized.

Andreas Harnacke, Managing Director of Goldbeck Facility Services: “Portfolio holders also rely on us for the energy-efficient retrofitting of their buildings – this is both confirmation and incentive. Our clients want and need to meet ESG criteria in order to comply with regulations and remain competitive in the market. We support them in this. As an innovation driver and technology leader, we at Goldbeck are constantly adapting our products and services to changing requirements – but above all out of our own conviction and the will to help drive forward the sustainable transformation of the operation of buildings. Whether in new buildings or existing buildings, we actively support our customers on the path to more energy self-sufficiency and sustainability with tailor-made PV solutions.”
