Potsdam’s train station passages thus almost fully let
The IPH Group has won IKEA as a new tenant for 500 square meters in Potsdam’s Bahnhofspassagen. There, the Swedish furniture store will open a new planning studio – with personal advice and digital planning. This means that IKEA will remain permanently present in Potsdam and, for the first time in Germany, will use an optimised concept of its planning studios, in which up to 100 IKEA products will now also be shown for take-away.
The new studio is scheduled to open as early as 2025. This is already the third location that the IPH Group has brokered to IKEA – after space in Stuttgart’s Gerber and Gänsbühlcenter in Ravensburg.
“With its planning studio, IKEA is an excellent concept for Potsdam’s train station passages, which are characterized by high frequencies with a lot of walk-in customers and good connections,” says Lars Jähnichen, Managing Director of the IPH Group.
In total, the mixed-use center comprises around 56,000 m² of rental space, of which 38,000 m² is retail and gastronomy and 18,000 m² is office space. Long-standing tenant partners include Kaufland, dm, MediaMarkt, Decathlon, Deutsche Bahn, the UCI cinema as well as numerous service providers, catering providers and medical practices. With the lease to IKEA, the station passages are fully let except for a 62 square metre retail space.
The Bahnhofspassagen Potsdam was opened in 1999 and has been owned by a fund managed by the Europe-wide real estate investor REVCAP since 2020. The operational management is in the hands of the IPH Group.
