Altaroc Partners, a leading European private equity specialist headquartered in Paris, officially launches its operations in Germany and opens an office in Munich. Following its successful expansion into Switzerland and Italy, Germany is the next strategic market in the company's European growth strategy.

With the appointment of Djamina Grimm, Altaroc underlines its ambition to establish itself in one of Europe's most attractive private equity markets in the long term. As the largest economy in the European Union, Germany has total net assets of around 20 trillion euros¹, a significant part of which continues to be invested in bank deposits and traditional forms of investment. At the same time, private equity is becoming increasingly important as a strategic component of long-term asset allocation. This also changes the central question for investors: the focus is no longer solely on access to the asset class, but on building robust and broadly diversified portfolios. Against this backdrop, Altaroc sees the right time to establish a local presence in Germany.
For its expansion, Altaroc draws on decades of experience in the European private equity market. The company was founded in 2021 by Maurice Tchenio and Frédéric Stolar , two personalities who have played a key role in shaping the European private equity market. Maurice Tchenio was one of the founders of Apax Partners, one of the pioneers of European private equity, in 1972 and played a crucial role in the development of the asset class in France and Europe. Frédéric Stolar was instrumental in setting up Sagard, an investment company focused on mid-market investments in French-speaking Europe. Over the past four years, Altaroc has raised more than two billion euros; assets under management and advice now amount to around three billion euros.
Altaroc's institutional expertise is reflected in its investment approach. The focus is on systematically building long-term sustainable private equity portfolios through targeted access to specialized managers. To meet different investor needs, the company offers three coordinated private equity solutions: annual vintage funds (Altaroc Horizon) for long-term portfolio construction, a semi-liquid secondaries solution (Altaroc Global Evergreen) for flexible entry with a one-time capital call, and individual mandate solutions (Altaroc Infinity) for larger and more complex assets.
Through the strategies, investors gain access to a broadly diversified portfolio of leading specialist private equity managers with a focus on growth and buyout investments in North America, Europe and selected Asian markets. Investments are focused on the B2B software, healthcare, business services and digital consumer sectors. Today, Altaroc's portfolios include indirect investments in more than 600 companies, including around 30 in Germany, and thus contribute to the financing of innovation and the real economy.
