ENOVA Value, financed by ENOVA and Omnes Capital, has sold a portfolio of eleven wind farms in Germany with a total capacity of around 350 MW to the newly founded ENOVA Generation GmbH. The majority shareholder of the new platform is the infrastructure investor Sosteneo SGR S.p.A. ("Sosteneo"), which is part of Generali Investments Holding. ENOVA will remain a minority shareholder and will continue to be responsible for the operation, project implementation and coordination with all project partners.
The new partnership with Sosteneo marks an important strategic step for ONOVA: With ENOVA Generation GmbH, the company is creating the basis for the targeted expansion of its existing portfolio. The new structure also allows further ready-to-build and operational projects to be acquired on the market. The aim is to build up a portfolio of up to 1 GW.
"With ENOVA Generation, we are opening the next chapter of our success story and gaining in Sosteneo a long-term oriented partner for our mature existing projects. This creates the conditions to further expand our expertise and to continue to grow sustainably, independently and at high speed in the future," says Hauke Brümmer, CEO of the ENOVA Group. "At the same time, we are pleased to continue our successful cooperation with Omnes Capital and to continue investing in project rights and repowering-capable wind farms."
Federica Gallina, Head of Investment & Portfolio Management at Sosteneo: "ENOVA is a highly respected developer and operator with extensive experience in the repowering of wind turbines. We are convinced that ENOVA's local expertise and implementation competence, together with our experience as an infrastructure investor in renewable energies, will create added value for Sosteneo's investors and at the same time drive the energy transition in Germany."
"Our partnership with ENOVA exemplifies Omnes Capital's investment approach to the European energy transition: we invest in experienced entrepreneurs, support them with growth capital and thus create the basis for sustainable value creation. Since 2020, we have built up the leading repowering portfolio for wind energy in Germany together with the ENOVA team. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership and jointly acquiring and developing further repowering projects in Germany," adds Yannic Trüb, Partner at Omnes Capital.
Growth through three financing partnerships
With Sosteneo, ENOVA now has three financing partnerships that are geared towards different segments of the growth strategy:
- ENOVA IPP: Together with Signal Iduna, ENOVA is driving forward the development of its own projects in the Weser-Ems region. By 2028, the portfolio is expected to grow to 300 MW.
- ENOVA Value: Together with Omnes Capital, ENOVA invests in old wind farms and project rights. Since 2020, around 70 wind farms have been acquired.
- ENOVA Generation: Sosteneo is a third platform for ready-to-build and operational wind farms from ENOVA Value and third parties, which is expected to grow to up to 1 GW.
With its three platforms, ENOVA covers the entire life cycle of a wind farm – from its own project development to the acquisition of wind farms with repowering potential to the long-term operation of existing farms ready for construction and operation. The company will remain independent in the future and will be responsible for the operation of the wind farms in all three platforms as well as the cooperation with the project partners on site.
