KVL Sachverständige GmbH is strengthening its Düsseldorf office. With effect from 1 October 2026, Sonja Kaltenborn has taken over as office manager and has also been granted power of attorney. In her new role, she will further develop the Düsseldorf office both professionally and organisationally and further strengthen its position within the KVL Group.
“In Sonja Kaltenborn, we are entrusting responsibility for our Düsseldorf site to a proven expert with extensive experience in construction operations and building law. She combines a high level of professional expertise with a keen understanding of the different perspectives of those involved in a construction project. We are delighted to be working with her to drive the further development of our Düsseldorf site,” said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus G. Viering, founding partner and managing director of the KVL Group.
As a B.Eng. and LL.M., Kaltenborn combines engineering expertise with in-depth knowledge of construction law. Following her bachelor’s degree in Supply and Waste Management Engineering, she completed a master’s degree in ‘Construction Law in the Life Cycle of Buildings’. This interdisciplinary background enables her to take a holistic view of issues relating to engineering, building operations and contracts.
Her areas of expertise include, in particular, the audit of final and termination accounts, as well as issues relating to the construction period and supplementary agreements. In addition, Kaltenborn has extensive experience in the day-to-day management of complex construction projects, representing both clients and contractors. Kaltenborn has been working for KVL since August 2021.
“Construction projects are becoming increasingly complex, and with that comes a growing need for consultancy that takes a holistic view of technical, operational and contractual aspects,” said Kaltenborn. “I look forward to working with the team to further expand our expertise in Düsseldorf and to support our clients on challenging projects at an early stage, with a focus on finding solutions.”
KVL Sachverständige GmbH has offices in Berlin and Düsseldorf. Its interdisciplinary team of civil engineers, architects, industrial engineers and business economists advises clients on issues relating to construction operations. Its areas of expertise include, amongst other things, disruptions to construction schedules, the preparation of expert reports, and claims and risk management. The teams work closely together across all locations.
