Arjun Infrastructure Partners has acquired a stake in a stabilised data centre portfolio (“StableCo”) operated by Data4, a leading European data centre operator. Supported by Arjun’s latest fund and co-investors, this transaction marks Arjun’s inaugural investment in the data centre sector.
The stake has been acquired from Data4, a data centre owner and operator of a platform with 1.5 GW of capacity across contracted assets and development projects. Data4 stands out for its sustainable and scalable campuses across Europe, designed to support the growth of a powerful, sovereign, and secure European AI and digital cloud ecosystem. Other investors in StableCo include existing owner Brookfield, which acquired Data4 in 2023.
Arjun’s investment secures a 30% stake in StableCo, a portfolio within Data4 comprised of hyperscale data centres in Paris, Madrid and Milan. The assets have a combined capacity of 244MW. Data4’s highly experienced management team will continue to manage the portfolio.
With accelerating global demand for data, Arjun’s investment in Data4 is a strategic entry into a compelling sector, which continues to align with Arjun’s core strategy of investing in essential infrastructure with long-term contracts in high-barrier sectors, as well as supporting the firm’s commitment to sustainability efforts.
Rohini Pahwa, Partner at Arjun Infrastructure Partners, commented: “Data4’s StableCo portfolio exemplifies market-leading, essential infrastructure backed by strong management. We are excited to enter the data centre sector with this transaction, having monitored the space for several years. We remain committed to our strategy of investing in real infrastructure, in sub-sectors and assets, exhibiting attractive risk adjusted returns underpinned by long-term contracts and operating in countries with a supportive regulatory backdrop. We are pleased to be collaborating with strong partners and a best in class and experienced management team of Data4.”
Olivier Micheli, CEO of Data4 said: “We are pleased to broaden our investor base with the addition of Arjun as a new shareholder. This strategic investment reflects strong confidence in Data4’s fundamentals and serves as a clear validation of its international expansion and digital campus development model. Backed by this partnership, Data4 is well-positioned to accelerate its growth trajectory and further consolidate its leadership in the European data centre market."
