Kinesis, a specialist project developer in the field of renewable energy, and NEDE, a developer of hybrid and sector-coupled energy projects, are planning the Afferde-Ost wind and solar park in Hameln-Afferde for the hybrid generation of renewable energy. At the end of September 2026, the Hameln City Council’s Administrative Committee approved the drafting of a project-specific local development plan for the project; the Afferde Local Council and the Hameln Urban Development Committee had previously also unanimously welcomed the project.
About the planned Hamelin-Afferde hybrid energy site
At the “Unter dem Schecken” site, a hybrid energy park is to be built, comprising two wind turbines with a hub height of 199 metres and a combined capacity of 13.6 megawatts, as well as two photovoltaic fields with a combined capacity of 24 megawatts. To make optimum use of the electricity generated and to buffer peak loads, a battery energy storage system (BESS) is also to be added to the park. The relevant land has been secured by the investors. A company has been set up by the project initiators to handle the project planning and operation.
"This means our recently established partnership with NEDE is now gaining momentum," says Dr Janis Meyerhof, Managing Director of Kinesis, with delight. He continues: "The hybrid energy site planned here is very well thought out in its design, which has been approved by the local authorities. The combined generation of green energy from solar and wind power, together with integrated storage, forms a sustainable concept."
Evan Gilroy, Managing Director of NEDE, on the project in Hameln-Afferde: “Now that the resolution to initiate the planning process has been passed, the next step is an early stage of public consultation for the preparation of the project-specific development plan. We anticipate that, once the resolution on the planning regulations has been passed, the project can be completed by our partners and ourselves within around 30 months.”
