The Staycity Group’s “Wilde Amsterdam” aparthotel has opened its doors in Union Investment’s YVIE mixed-use development, bringing a unique concept for long-term stays to Amsterdam. “Wilde Amsterdam” occupies floors three to ten of the 31-storey residential tower block and comprises 120 apartments with a total floor area of around 7,000 m². The lease is for a term of 25 years. The opening marks the Staycity Group’s entry into the Dutch market.

The design-focused “Wilde Amsterdam” aparthotel, overlooking the River IJ, was designed by Studio Barba Mendoza and is available for stays of seven nights or more. It combines living in fully equipped apartments with hotel services and communal areas, including ‘Oscar’s’, a café and bar open from morning until evening, a self-service deli, communal living and working spaces, fitness facilities and an outdoor terrace. The concept is designed to offer guests the flexibility and comfort of a home combined with the service and experience of a boutique hotel, and is ideal for relocations, business trips and extended holiday stays.

“We have confidence in the resilience of this successful asset class and are delighted to be able to strengthen our partnership with the Staycity Group. The operator has been our tenant on Commercial Road in London since 2021, where it runs the ‘Wilde Aldgate’,” says Thorsten Purkus, Head of Hospitality Asset Management at Union Investment.

“The way people travel and live is undergoing a fundamental shift, with modern professionals and holidaymakers increasingly blurring the lines between work, life and discovery,” says Rob de Ridder, Managing Director of Wilde Amsterdam. “Our entry into the Dutch market with Wilde Amsterdam reflects this trend. Travellers today are looking for more than just a place to sleep – they want flexibility, a sense of community and the comforts of home, combined with hotel-standard service, whether they’re staying for a week, a month or longer.”

The residential tower of the Yvie complex, due for completion in 2024–2025, is situated in the rapidly growing Overhoeks district of Amsterdam-Noord and, in addition to the aparthotel, comprises 176 flats, which are currently almost fully let. It forms part of the portfolio of the UniImmo: Europa open-ended public property fund. Union Investment acquired the complex in 2019 as a project development.
