Petra Müller, Head of Development, Periscope Development:

The new government is facing major challenges, which it is fortunately meeting with initial projects. After the summer break, it will become concrete for many ministries. Federal Building Minister Verena Hubertz will bring the construction turbo, which has been launched with a lot of momentum, through parliament and strive for the continuation of KfW 55 funding. These are two first steps towards efficient construction.

However, in order for the construction turbo to be able to put its horsepower on the road, closer cooperation with all parties involved, building owners, the construction industry, investors and municipalities is necessary. In addition to the construction industry, which urgently needs adapted framework conditions to create affordable housing, this also includes municipalities. Due to the existing shortage of skilled workers, the latter are faced with the challenge of handling many building law processes with few staff in the future. A simplification and acceleration of these processes in the course of a long overdue amendment to the Building Code, together with the construction turbo, would have an enormously positive effect on construction activity in this country.
