Swedish menswear brand comes to Germany for the first time

CBRE Investment Management (CBRE IM) has gained another international tenant for the Hanseviertel in Hamburg: The Swedish menswear brand John Henric is opening its first store in Germany there.

On around 170 square meters, right next to Zara Home, John Henric will present its range from late summer 2026: classic shirts, ties and accessories. Since its founding in 2013, the label has positioned itself as a modern alternative to classic men’s fashion.

“The move to Hamburg is an important milestone in our international expansion. We are currently experiencing the strongest growth in our company’s history and the Hanseviertel offers exactly the right setting for this. We are starting the next phase of our journey here with great self-confidence and a lot of energy,” says John Ekström, CEO John Henric.

The Hanseviertel’s tenant portfolio is also developing elsewhere: The Danish brand Colorful Standard, which is currently using John Henric’s future space as part of a pop-up concept, has signed a long-term lease. The company will move to a new space of around 83 square meters within the Hanseviertel and plans to open in the second quarter of 2026. It is the brand’s only own store in Hamburg.

“With the settlement of John Henric, we are specifically strengthening the international orientation and the curated tenant mix of the Hanseviertel,” says Kemal Düzel, Senior Asset Manager at CBRE IM. “At the same time, Colorful Standard’s long-term decision shows that the quarter has proven itself as an attractive address in the long term.”

The Hanseviertel itself is a piece of city history: designed in 1980 by Volkwin Marg (gmp Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner), it was the first covered shopping arcade in Germany. Brick architecture, expansive glass roofs and an urban sense of space characterise the ensemble to this day and form a fitting setting for a style-oriented brand.

As the landlord, CBRE IM is responsible for the asset management of the Hanseviertel and implements the strategic vision of developing a balanced mix of retail, offices, living space and hotel use, thus creating a lively quarter.

CBRE Asset Services Germany provides services in the areas of real estate management and letting.
