Müller Radack Schultz on the Building Modernization Act: New Cost Rules for Landlords and Tenants

On 10 July 2026, the Bundestag passed the Building Modernisation Act; it will enter into force on 1 November 2026. It expands the CO₂ Cost Sharing Act: Certain heating costs can no longer be fully passed on to tenants, gas and oil heating systems remain permissible with an increasing share of climate-neutral fuels.
