At the Lübbecke Hospital of the Mühlenkreiskliniken, Goldbeck Parking Services GmbH – a specialist in the management and revitalisation of parking properties – has developed and put into operation a site-specific parking concept. From now on, the parking specialist will take over the management of almost 500 parking spaces in several parking areas and in a single-storey multi-storey car park. The client is Mühlenkreiskliniken AöR, which awarded the contract as part of a public tender.
Different usage requirements at the clinic location
Different usage requirements come together at the highly frequented clinic location: patients with short-term or acute parking needs, visitors with medium stay times, employees with long parking times as well as emergency services, delivery traffic and external service providers who depend on smooth access and exit at all times use the parking space in parallel. Especially at peak times, this overlapping of different requirements leads to increased parking pressure and demanding traffic flows.
“The central challenge is to coordinate very different user groups at the same time – and to prioritize medical care at the site at all times,” explains Christoph Schlenke, Business Unit Manager at Goldbeck Parking Services GmbH. “Our approach is therefore not only to manage the parking space for Lübbecke Hospital conventionally, but to actively control it with the help of intelligent solutions.”
Less congestion, more efficiency and comfort: Barrier-free free-flow system for smooth traffic flow at the hospital site
In order to meet these requirements, Goldbeck Parking Services has implemented an integrated, digital parking management system for Lübbecke Hospital. The focus is on a barrier-free and ticketless free-flow system with automatic license plate recognition at the entrances and exits. Parking transactions are recorded and billed digitally.
“The free-flow system enables reliable, transparently controllable, high-quality parking operations – essential in an environment where reliability is non-negotiable,” explains Christoph Schlenke.
The result is a smooth flow of traffic with noticeably fewer traffic jams and traffic looking for a parking space as well as increased user comfort. At the same time, the system enables more efficient, economical operation and strengthens the attractiveness of the clinic location in the long term.
