YES Solar, a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) products and integrated energy solutions, today announces the first wave of installations of its JAPlanet battery energy storage system in Europe. This marks an important milestone in the company’s solar-plus-storage strategy for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers.

Since its launch at the end of 2025, JAPlanet has seen strong market demand: several systems are already installed in Germany, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands and Lithuania, complemented by a steadily growing project pipeline in other important C&I markets.

Designed for commercial and industrial applications, the JAPlanet is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery system with a storage capacity of 261 kWh. Thanks to its compact, modular design, the system can be scaled up to 5.2 MWh per site. It is part of a fully integrated solar-plus-storage offering designed to meet the increasing demand from businesses and municipalities, increase self-consumption of solar power and increase the value of installed PV systems through energy trading.

Support for installers in Germany

In Germany, JAPlanet is gaining importance in various C&I segments, supported by its sales partner SegenSolar Germany. Among the first installations is a mixed agricultural farm in Straelen, which combines dairy farming with feed production and vegetable cultivation.

First commercial and municipal systems in operation in Italy

In Italy, JA Solar is working with installation specialist Noon srl to implement a number of large-scale commercial projects in Sicily. These include ten JAPlanet units in an aquaculture facility, eight units in a 200-room hotel and resort complex in Palermo, and another ten units for the municipality of Licodia Eubea in the province of Catania. The latter project includes a 2 MW battery storage system coupled to a PV system to support energy trading and arbitrage at the municipal level.

These projects are also among the first examples of JA Solar’s “PV + Storage + X” model, which combines solar power generation and battery storage with specific industrial applications (“X”) to provide customized and sustainable energy solutions. In these installations, the battery is controlled by a locally developed energy management system that supports peak load management and operational stability while maximizing the use of renewable energy. As a result, around 70% of the solar energy generated on site is consumed directly.

Adapting to market demands in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, JA Solar is working with Wierden-based wholesaler GWS Energy-systems B.V. (GWS Energy) to provide multiple battery systems in various commercial and industrial segments, including logistics, agriculture, retail, real estate, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Roland Hollegien, co-owner of GWS, comments: “As a wholesaler, our job is to ensure that installers have access to storage solutions that actually meet the needs of their C&I customers. In the Netherlands, demand is being driven by challenges such as grid congestion, rising energy prices and the

desire for greater energy independence – and JAPlanet is particularly convincing in this environment.

Particularly valuable is the combination of high safety standards, long service life and high system efficiency, combined with a modular plug-and-play design that simplifies installation and reduces commissioning time. For our installer partners, this means less project complexity, reduced service costs and faster project implementation for the end customer. For end users, the system supports real-world applications such as peak shaving, load shifting and better integration of PV systems, helping them to maximize self-consumption and reduce dependence on the grid.”

Supporting critical infrastructure in Lithuania

Several JAPlanet systems with a total capacity of more than 3 MWh are currently being installed in Lithuania. This includes a recently commissioned solar plus storage system with 0.5 MW / 1.044 MWh at a drinking water treatment plant in the south of the country. The project was developed to increase the flexibility of the local energy supply, improve the use of renewable energies in daily operations and thus support more sustainable water production.
