KINGSTONE Investment Management (KINGSTONE IM) is entering the infrastructure asset class with the establishment of KINGSTONE Infrastructure Investments (KII). The new company is a joint venture between KINGSTONE IM and ADVENTRA Asset Management GmbH. ADVENTRA is one of the specialists for institutional infrastructure and real assets investments with particular expertise in the energy, storage, security of supply and resilient infrastructure segments. The aim of the partnership is to launch and manage infrastructure investment vehicles. The managing directors of the new company are Friedrich von Carlowitz, Karsten Mieth and Maximilian Radert.
Strategically, resilience is to be the overarching leitmotif in infrastructure investments. The focus is on investments that contribute to the resilience and stability of the economy, government and society. This relates to the areas of energy and supply sovereignty, mobility and supply chains, digital infrastructure and data resilience, and security and defence-related infrastructure. Geographically, investments are to be made mainly in Germany, but also in Poland and the Netherlands with their own representative offices.
Dr. Tim Schomberg, CEO and founder of KINGSTONE IM, comments: “In addition to the real estate asset class, infrastructure is becoming increasingly important for many professional investors. We want to respond to this development and see great opportunities for our company here. Therefore, the development of the Infrastructure business area is the logical next step.”
Philipp Schomberg, Executive Partner and Founder of KINGSTONE IM, adds: “We want to create a long-term infrastructure platform with a clear focus on resilience-relevant investments and investment solutions. With Karsten Mieth, Friedrich von Carlowitz and Maximilian Radert, we have been able to gain experts with great experience in this field.”
Karsten Mieth, founder and managing partner of ADVENTRA, sees special opportunities for investors: “Germany and Europe are facing enormous demands on the future infrastructure and on the resilience of the economy. Systemically important projects are becoming more networked and complex and require both public and private capital. The decisive factor is that the framework conditions for institutional investors have also improved: professional valuations and clear regulation put this asset class in focus.”
Karsten Mieth brings over 30 years of experience in the strictly regulated fund management of infrastructure investments and real assets. Responsible for institutional asset management, he was most recently CEO of the Encavis Group, a formerly listed operator of PV power plants and onshore wind farms in Europe listed on the M-DAX.
Friedrich von Carlowitz has been a Managing Director at KINGSTONE Capital Advisory for around two years and has extensive infrastructure experience through his former employer Macquarie.
Maximilian Radert has many years of experience in the development of national and international fund vehicles, the analysis of complex infrastructure markets and the conception of capital market-ready investment solutions for institutional investors.
