Scandic has signed a long-term lease agreement with Union Investment for the hotel, which is centrally located at the Frankfurt Trade Fair and the Skyline Plaza shopping and congress centre. The hotel, which has been part of the portfolio of Union Investment’s open-ended real estate fund UniInstitutional European Real Estate since 2008 and was operated by Mövenpick until the end of June 2026, will be repositioned on the market and adapted to Scandic’s brand and operating standards before reopening in 2027. The repositioning includes modernised rooms, a contemporary design, a careful selection of sustainable materials and an enhanced guest experience throughout the property. After densification of the existing building, the hotel will have 296 rooms, an inviting all-day restaurant and bar area, a 100 square metre outdoor terrace and event and exhibition rooms on the ground floor, which offer a total of five rooms with an area of 500 square metres for conferences.

The two companies are already working together successfully in Hamburg. Scandic Hamburg Emporio, which opened in 2012 and marked Scandic’s entry into the German hotel market, is also part of Union Investment’s broadly diversified hotel portfolio.
