The International Campus Group (IC), one of the leading investors, developers, portfolio holders and operators in the field of student housing and urban living concepts, celebrated the completion of the modernization of THE FIZZ Bremen at Universitätsallee 1 last Friday. The student residence, which originally opened in 2012 and is the first building under the THE FIZZ brand and thus the origin of International Campus’ current Europe-wide portfolio, has been extensively modernised in recent months. With the completion of the measures, the International Campus Group is investing in the future viability of the location and creating a contemporary living environment for the needs of today’s students. The completion was celebrated together with residents and numerous guests.
The residential building, located directly on the campus of the University of Bremen, was opened in the winter semester 2012/13 and has 335 furnished apartments, which are currently fully occupied. Around 75 percent of the residents come from abroad, while 25 percent come from Germany.
The focus of the modernisation was on the comprehensive renewal of the quality of living and stay. All apartments have been modernised and technically upgraded. These included new beds and mattresses, new desks and desk chairs, modern lighting, new curtains and additional TV sideboards. The kitchens have also been renewed, including new worktops, fronts, sinks, fittings, cutlery systems and induction hobs.
A special component of the measures was the replacement of 76 bay windows, which were completely redesigned. In addition, the apartments were equipped with modular picture rails with an integrated pinboard, which offer residents additional options for individual design.
At the same time, all common areas were redesigned. A modern communal kitchen, a new learning room with communal workstations, a gaming area, a newly designed laundry lounge, a modern reception and new lounge areas for meeting and exchanging ideas have been created.
The outdoor facilities were also fundamentally modernized. The garden area now has, among other things, a table tennis table, a new BBQ area, additional terrace furniture and a gymnastics rig for sports activities. The offer is supplemented by a permanently installed community bus – a redesigned vintage bus that serves as a new meeting place for the house community.

The building has a special meaning for us because the history of International Campus began here about 15 years ago,” says Geraldine Lade, Marketing Manager of International Campus. “Our goal is to offer students not only contemporary housing, but also an environment that promotes community, well-being and successful studying. The comprehensive measures help to meet the high demands of our residents and to further develop the living experience in the long term.”
With its 335 apartments, THE FIZZ Bremen is one of the largest private offers for student housing in the immediate vicinity of the University of Bremen. Rental prices start at around 800 euros per month. All utilities and internet are already included in the rent.
