The Ypsilon Group, the consulting firm with a special focus on financial services, real estate and private equity, is setting up a US tax desk. The goal: Clients from Germany and the USA – especially from the private equity and venture capital sectors – should be optimally supported in their cross-border activities.
The US Tax Desk is set up by Nina Schmidt, Managing Director at the Ypsilon Group and tax consultant and specialist advisor for international tax law. Schmidt herself will be on site at the US law firm Clark Schaefer Hackett (CSH) in Cincinnati (Ohio) for one year from July 1, 2026, where she will deepen her knowledge of US tax law directly at the source.
Nina Schmidt comments: “In the venture capital and private equity market, cross-border structures with a US connection are widespread. Due to the different legal and tax regimes, they are particularly complex. We have been supporting inbound investments from the USA to Germany for many years. From 1 July, we will be able to use our in-depth US tax expertise to provide even more targeted support for outbound investments from Germany to the USA. German investors and funds with US exposures in particular benefit from this, as do US companies and fund vehicles in which German shareholders hold shares. In this respect, we are currently receiving many inquiries.”
Nina Schmidt continues: “For optimal client support, it is not only in-depth expertise in US tax law that counts, but also practical experience in dealing with the US tax authorities and a deep understanding of the typical US business culture.”
CSH brings the entire depth of U.S. tax law to the collaboration: Founded in 1938, the firm is one of the top 70 in the U.S. and employs more than 550 people at ten locations – including Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan. As a business advisor, CSH advises far beyond tax law, including in the areas of audit, advisory and outsourcing. Ypsilon and CSH are both members of the international network AGN International. This connection creates a continuous consulting channel between Germany and the USA for clients.
