Yesterday, LBBW Immobilien celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the Rivage residential project in Mainz’s Zollhafen. The progress of the shell construction work was acknowledged together with the Mayor of Mainz, Nino Haase, representatives of the client LBBW Immobilien, the general contractor Nesseler Bau, the future owners and residents as well as numerous project participants. The first apartments are to be handed over when the project is completed in mid-2027.
With the Rivage, a total of 72 high-quality condominiums are being built directly on the Rhine, including three townhouses, with a total living space of around 6,200 square metres. The ensemble forms an important building block in the development of the district in Mainz’s Zollhafen and combines modern architecture with sustainable construction to create a high-quality residential offer.
In addition to its direct location on the harbour basin, the project is characterised by the surrounding canals and spacious outdoor areas with terraces, loggias, balconies and roof terraces. Green open spaces increase the quality of stay and at the same time contribute to a pleasant microclimate within the quarter. The architectural design for the Rivage was created by Zanderroth Architekten from Berlin.
“Mainz needs new living space. This has recently been made clear once again in the current housing market report. With the Rivage, a high-quality contribution to further district development is being made in Zollhafen: modern architecture, sustainable construction and living in a special location directly on the water. The Zollhafen thus shows how Mainz can combine growth, quality of life and the transformation of a historic port area,” said Nino Haase, Mayor of the City of Mainz, in a written greeting.
From an ecological point of view, Rivage is focusing on sustainable solutions. The residential project is aiming for DGNB certification in gold. The energy supply is provided by a district heating connection and is supplemented by a large-scale photovoltaic system. In addition, the project meets the requirements of the EU taxonomy and is being implemented in accordance with KfW 55 standards.
“Soon people will live here, neighborhoods will emerge and stories will begin. This is exactly what we are building for: for places with a high quality of life that turn a building into a home,” said Marco Knopp, CEO of LBBW Immobilien. “With Rivage, we are creating a sustainable residential project that combines ecological responsibility, modern architecture and a special location on the water.”
“With the topping-out ceremony, we have reached an important milestone. Many trades and project participants had to work closely together and coordinate their tasks precisely. We want to continue this good cooperation in the next construction phase and successfully complete the Rivage together,” added Karl Arnolds, Chairman of the Management Board of Nesseler Bau GmbH.
LBBW Immobilien has been supporting the development of Mainz’s Zollhafen for many years. While the Dock1Mainz and Rheinkontor projects have already been successfully implemented, Marina A, Marina B and Rivage are further important building blocks for the new urban quarter on the water.
