Sonar Development, which is responsible for project developments in the Sonar Group, has received the building permits for the planned conversion of two vacant office buildings in Eschborn into modern living space.

The permits for the properties along Eschborner Hauptstraße 71–79 and 87 were granted without conditions or restrictions within the planned processing period.

On behalf of an institutional investor, around 200 residential units are being built at the site. The project thus makes an important contribution to meeting the urgent need for housing in the region. A special focus is on sustainability: the existing building fabric is integrated into the planning, which saves grey energy and reduces surface sealing. A renovation according to the KfW 55 standard is planned.

“The granting of the building permits marks an important milestone for our project. We would like to thank the entire planning team for their professional cooperation and the responsible authorities – in particular the city of Eschborn, the city planning office and the building supervisory authority in Hofheim – for the smooth and timely processing. With this tailwind, we are now entering the next project phase to implement the transformation of office space into contemporary living space,” says Steffen Wittwer, Managing Director of Sonar Development.

Ed. Züblin AG Züblin (Züblin) was entrusted with the implementation of the construction project as the general contractor: “The conversion of existing buildings into modern living space makes an important contribution to sustainable urban development. We would like to thank Sonar for the trust they have placed in us in our expertise in the transformation of sophisticated existing properties,” comments Mark Simon-O’Sullivan, overall project manager and representative of the Construction in Existing Properties division at Züblin.

Construction work is scheduled to begin in September of this year.
