AUKETT + HEESE awarded as “BIM Champion 2026”
The Berlin-based architecture and planning firm AUKETT + HEESE has been awarded the title of “BIM Champion 2026” in the category “From planning to sustainable operation”. This makes the company one of the three winners in this category in the buildingSMART Germany competition. The office was awarded for its contribution to the Siemensstadt Square project – module C1.1.
The jury particularly praised the consistently implemented BIM process throughout the entire life cycle of the project – from planning to subsequent operation. The high complexity of the project, the integrative cooperation of all participants and the consistently cooperative project culture within integrated project management (IPA) were emphasized.
Digital planning as a basis for sustainable urban development
With Siemensstadt Square, one of the most important urban development projects in Europe is being built in Berlin. On the historic Siemens site, Siemens AG is developing a future-oriented urban quarter that combines work, research, production and public uses. Within the first development phase, AUKETT + HEESE is responsible for the building planning of a high-rise building and an atrium building in timber hybrid construction.
The project is implemented within the framework of integrated project management (IPA). Even in the early planning phases, architecture, specialist planning, client and executing companies work together on the basis of a common digital model. The BIM process not only serves planning and coordination, but also forms the basis for the subsequent sustainable operation of the building. At the same time, sustainability and life cycle assessment data are becoming an integral part of the digital workflow. This creates a reliable basis for resource-saving decisions and long-term sustainable building operation even in the early planning phases.
“For us, the award as BIM Champion 2026 is a special recognition of our attitude of consistently thinking architecture, technology and operations together,” says Max Reder, member of the management at AUKETT + HEESE and responsible for the Siemensstadt Square Module C1.1 project. “The consistent application of the BIM method has made it possible to transparently merge complex requirements from planning, use and operation at an early stage. Especially in a project of this magnitude, quality is created above all through collaboration, digital processes and a common understanding throughout the entire life cycle of the building.”
With this award, AUKETT + HEESE underlines its claim to understand digital planning methods not only technologically, but as an integral part of a sustainable planning culture. Siemensstadt Square is an example of a new generation of large-scale cooperative projects.
