Energiequelle GmbH has successfully commissioned another wind turbine in the district of Barnim (Brandenburg). With the feed-in of the first kilowatt hour, the company is expanding the existing wind farm with a modern Enercon E-138 EP3 E2 turbine with a hub height of 160 meters and an installed capacity of 4.2 megawatts.
The new turbine is located in the Krummensee wind priority area in the municipality of Werneuchen and complements the existing wind farm, in which the Krummensee IV project, among other things, was previously implemented. The site quality of almost 80 percent underlines the good wind conditions on site and creates a solid basis for long-term reliable electricity generation from renewable energies.
However, the path to commissioning was longer than originally planned. The immission control permit for the wind farm was already granted in July 2021. Due to a legal dispute, the implementation of the project was significantly delayed. In order to ensure the continuation of the permit, a deadline extension notice was issued in July 2024.
After the settlement of the legal dispute, the preparatory construction measures could begin in September 2024. This included, among other things, archaeological investigations, the recovery of archaeological monuments and the creation of access roads and building areas. With the construction of the foundation, the actual construction of the wind turbine finally began in March 2025.
In addition to energy production, nature conservation also played an important role in the project. As a compensatory measure, a crane habitat was created. For this purpose, a field depression was rewetted and thus a body of water with an adjacent feeding area was created.
“This project has accompanied us for many years and has always presented us with new challenges. We are all the more pleased that the plant is now successfully in operation. Our thanks go to all the colleagues, partners, authorities and service companies involved who contributed to the success of this special project with their commitment and perseverance,” says Vincent Wahrenburg, project manager at Energiequelle GmbH.
With the successful commissioning in Krummensee, the plant will make a further contribution to the climate-friendly power supply in Brandenburg in the future and support the expansion of renewable energies in the region. With another wind turbine already planned, the positive development of the site is to be continued in the coming years.
