KGAL has acquired the Teschendorf wind farm with a capacity of 21 megawatts from the project developer Energiequelle on behalf of an individual mandate from the Software AG Foundation (SAGST). With this acquisition, KGAL is strengthening the foundation’s portfolio in the field of renewable energies in a targeted manner.
The Teschendorf wind farm is located in the district of Gifhorn in Lower Saxony and consists of five Enercon E-138 wind turbines. The plants were commissioned as planned in autumn 2025; the grid connection has already been made. Through the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), the wind farm has secured a 20-year feed-in tariff based on the EEG 2023.
“The Teschendorf wind farm is exactly in line with the long-term buy-and-hold philosophy of the Software AG Foundation. It is a good addition to the existing portfolio and, thanks to the EEG tariff, offers stable hedging of electricity prices over a very long period of time,” explains Markus Ziener, Board Member for Assets and Finance at SAGST.
Konrad Lindner, Portfolio Manager at KGAL, adds: “In the current market environment, German wind farms with EEG tariffs from 2023/2024 are among the most attractive core investments in Europe in terms of the risk-return profile. In Teschendorf, the EEG surcharge of over 70 euros per megawatt hour is significantly higher than the last EEG tender values of approx. 55 EUR/MWh.”
Foundation with a consistent ESG focus
The Software AG Foundation, based in Darmstadt, is one of the largest charitable foundations in Germany. Their assets – built up through the entrepreneurial success of IT pioneer Peter Schnell – are positioned across various asset classes and consistently invested according to self-defined ESG criteria. A growing proportion of the foundation’s assets flow specifically into renewable energy projects and thus make an active contribution to the energy transition.
