For the second time, we have analysed the renovation activities in the office segment in the German A-cities. The latest edition of the apoprojekt Inventory Compass shows that the importance of existing properties continues to increase – and with it the volume of renovations.
By 2027, 2.8 million m² of office space is to be refurbished – 300,000 m² more than in our last analysis. Half of the recorded renovation volume has already been implemented, while 1.4 million m² are still in the pipeline until 2027.
Around 30% of the projects are currently under construction, including major projects such as The Verse in Munich or the Deutsche Bundesbank headquarters in Frankfurt.
The trend is clear: with the growing focus on sustainability and the continuing stagnation of new construction activity, the renovation of existing buildings is becoming increasingly important.
