Further development of the room and service concept
smartments reopened its location in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg at the beginning of April after extensive renovation. The focus is on a further developed room concept, new room categories and an adapted service and stay concept. In this way, the company is responding specifically to the increasing demand for flexible forms of stay and different guest needs.
The building with 183 units was modernized during ongoing operations and completely closed for two weeks for final work in March. Among other things, the introduction of family rooms with a connecting door is new, with which smartments is expanding its offer for the first time specifically for guests travelling together.
“We are consistently developing our product along the different occasions for stay, starting with short stays and ending with longer stays. With the new room concept and additional categories, we are creating more flexibility and at the same time tapping into new demand potential,” says Martin Troppa, Director of Commercial at smartments.
Further developed room concept with a focus on flexible use
The core of the revision is a new spatial concept for the studios. A floating bed provides a more open room effect and more usable space. The furnishings are complemented by a modular sofa that can be flexibly adapted to different usage situations.
With the new family rooms, smartments is expanding its offer for the first time to include a category for guests travelling together. Two connected units with connecting doors allow both shared living and retreat. All apartments are also equipped with kitchenette and workplace and are designed for stays of one night to several months. An additional element for individualization are the so-called “Fresh Frames”: Guests can select motifs in the lobby and design their room individually. Among other things, you can choose from Berlin city motifs such as the TV Tower and the Berlin Wall.
Lobby as a central lounge and service room
The lobby area has also been completely redesigned and designed more as a multifunctional lounge. Different seating and work areas allow for both shared dining and co-working. At the same time, smartments is further developing its service concept: Instead of a classic reception, the company is increasingly relying on mobile hosts that are located in the lobby area and are flexibly available to guests. The aim is to provide service closer to the actual location of the guests and at the same time to make processes more efficient. The lobby is thus deliberately no longer understood as a pure transit area, but as a central component of the stay concept for guests with different lengths of stay.
