Only a few months after the start of letting, Urban Living Südtor Rostock is almost fully let. It comprises 180 fully furnished 1-room apartments with around 18 to 42 m² of living space on a 7,945 m² site. The building has five full floors and was built in solid construction. The building part of the micro-apartments, including outdoor facilities, is around 2,025 m². The property complies with the KfW Efficiency House 55 standard. The construction quality was also checked by DEKRA-certified building experts during construction.
For the i Live Group, the high demand is no coincidence: Findings from the Generation Report 2025 have been incorporated into the project along the entire value chain – from the design of the community areas to the furnishings of the apartments to the welcome on move-in day. Results of the Report 2025 will shape projects that are currently under development.
The Generation Report, which is published regularly, is based on the responses of around 1,700 residents at more than 25 locations operated by i Live in Germany. The current issue shows, among other things, that young people are looking for community, but at the same time want to decide for themselves when and how it is created. In response, i Live is creating flexible community areas, digital networking opportunities and personal contact persons on site.
Concrete product decisions are also based on resident feedback. For example, after criticism in the 2022 survey, the mattress concept was revised. In the 2025 survey, mattresses were among the most popular features of the apartments. The next item on the list is the seating comfort of the chairs. Here, too, i Live starts with its own tests.
“The strong demand in Rostock confirms our approach of not only evaluating resident feedback, but also consistently translating it into planning, equipment and operation,” says Amos Engelhardt, founder of i Live, “For us, ‘friendship by design’, from planning to operation, means thinking about the prerequisites for community along the entire value chain.”
The concept is already entering the next round: The results of the next resident survey in 2026/2027 are to be incorporated directly into ongoing projects in Frankfurt, Aalen, Lübeck and Nuremberg.
