Modernized technical infrastructure and resource-efficiency measures have secured the Cardo Brussels Hotel, part of the Aroundtown portfolio, its initial BREEAM certification with a rating of “Very Good.” BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is an internationally recognized certification system for assessing the sustainability and environmental performance of buildings. As part of the modernization program, the hotel’s heating, ventilation, hot water, and cooling systems were renewed and replaced with energy-efficient installations. The entire building has been equipped with LED lighting. In addition, smart water metering and monitoring systems for water-intensive facilities were implemented. In the area of accessibility, the building achieved the highest BREEAM rating. The hotel features step-free access, wheelchair-accessible areas, adapted circulation spaces, as well as accessible vertical transportation and facilities.
The Cardo Brussels Hotel is located in the center of the Belgian capital, Brussels. The building’s façade is inspired by René Magritte’s painting “Le fils de l’homme.” The hotel comprises 30 floors and more than 500 rooms, including 46 suites. Additional amenities include 15 conference and event rooms, a rooftop pool, and a spa area. Its location in the business district, convenient access to the train station, and proximity to Brussels Airport make the hotel attractive for both business and leisure travelers. Landmarks such as the Royal Palace, the Atomium, St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral, and Brussels Park are all within walking distance.
