Berliner Stadtwerke is expanding its wind energy generation capacities. They are taking over a wind project pre-developed by the JUWI Group for two wind turbines, which are scheduled to be connected to the grid in the 3rd quarter of 2027 at the Diehlo West wind farm near Eisenhüttenstadt in Brandenburg.
The Diehlo West wind project is a wind project that has already been approved and has begun construction with two Vestas V150 turbines, which together have an output of 12 MW. Diehlo is a district of Eisenhüttenstadt in the Oder-Spree district. The wind farm is located about 90 km southeast of Berlin as the crow flies.
The two wind turbines being built in Diehlo by the Danish manufacturer Vestas have it all: they measure a hub height of 169 meters, making them among the most powerful turbines in their class. The electricity is fed into the grid via a new 110 kV substation. Based on the calculated wind yield of 40 GWh per year, more than 21,500 households can be supplied fossil-free and around 13,300 tons of CO2 are saved per year.
The project is already being implemented: the necessary permits have been obtained and the first construction measures have begun. The project developer JUWI GmbH has founded a project company for the project. This company was taken over by Berliner Stadtwerke on 31 August 2026, which will continue the project until commissioning.

With these two wind turbines near Eisenhüttenstadt, the amount of electricity generated by us ourselves, regardless of the energy market, continues to grow,” says Chris Werner, Managing Director of Berliner Stadtwerke. This increases the municipal utilities’ own generation capacity to 178.5 MW. “The electricity yields from our wind turbines ideally complement our solar energy generation, especially on Berlin’s roofs, and ensure that we can supply our customers with stable prices in the long term.”
